Ingredients

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 cup of softened butter
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of buttermilk
  • 2 cups of fresh blueberries

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  5. Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until light and fluffy.
  6. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  7. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk to the butter-sugar mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  8. Stir in the blueberries.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
