Ingredients

  • 2 9-inch pie crusts, homemade or store-bought
  • 6-7 cups peeled, cored, and thinly sliced apples (about 6-7 medium-sized apples)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until the apples are coated evenly.
  4. Pour the caramel sauce over the apple mixture and gently toss until well combined.
  5. Pour the apple filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, prepare the crumb topping by combining the cold cubed butter, flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, cinnamon, and salt. Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb topping over the apple filling, covering it completely.
  8. Cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours to allow the caramel filling to set.
  11. Once cooled, slice and serve the caramel apple pie. Optional: Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
