- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the vanilla, egg, and then stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt. The dough will be thick.
- Drop cookie dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are lightly toasted.
- Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
