Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually beat in the dry ingredients until just blended.
- Press the cookie dough into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and press them lightly into the dough.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown. Allow cake to cool in pan.
- In a medium bowl, beat the heavy cream, white sugar and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form. Spread over the cooled cookie layer.
- Chill cake in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
