- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Directions
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion, carrots, and celery, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the flour and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in the chicken broth and stir to combine. Add the thyme, oregano, bay leaf, and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add the cooked chicken, frozen peas, and parsley. Stir to combine. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Add the heavy cream and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the self-rising flour and buttermilk and stir until a soft dough forms. Drop the dough by tablespoonfuls into the simmering liquid.
- Cover and simmer until the dumplings are cooked through, about 10 minutes. Serve hot.
