Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, for serving (optional)

Directions

  1. In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the water and macaroni and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the macaroni is tender, about 10 minutes.
  5. Serve with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired.
