Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the baking powder, baking soda, salt and vanilla.
  3. Stir in the flour alternately with the buttermilk. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the blueberries, brown sugar, walnuts, flour and melted butter. Sprinkle over the top of the cake.
  5. Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow cake to cool before serving.
