Ingredients

  • 1 (4-5 pound) beef brisket
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour the marinade over it. Make sure the brisket is completely coated with the marinade.
  4. Cover the roasting pan with foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 3 hours.
  5. After 3 hours, remove the foil from the roasting pan and continue baking for an additional hour, or until the brisket is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
  6. Once the brisket is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.
