Ingredients

  • 2 cups macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs

Directions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to the package directions.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in the salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
  5. Add the cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
  6. Add the cooked macaroni and stir until combined.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
  8. In a shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs and panko bread crumbs.
  9. Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out the mac and cheese and shape into balls.
  10. Dip each ball into the beaten eggs and then roll in the bread crumb mixture.
  11. Place the balls in the air fryer and cook at 350°F for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  12. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
