Ingredients
- 2 cups macaroni
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
Directions
- Cook the macaroni according to the package directions.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Stir in the salt, garlic powder, and pepper.
- Add the cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
- Add the cooked macaroni and stir until combined.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs and panko bread crumbs.
- Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out the mac and cheese and shape into balls.
- Dip each ball into the beaten eggs and then roll in the bread crumb mixture.
- Place the balls in the air fryer and cook at 350°F for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
