Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, then stir in the molasses and water. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until everything is thoroughly combined.
Pour into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Allow gingerbread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
