Ingredients

  • 1 lb. pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the pork shoulder and cook for about 5 minutes, until lightly browned.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook for an additional 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, oregano, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer for 25-30 minutes, until the pork is tender.
  5. Remove the lid and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, until most of the liquid has evaporated.
  6. Using two forks, shred the pork and stir to combine with the spices and juices in the skillet.
