Ingredients
- 2 cups of macaroni
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups of cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add macaroni. Cook for 10 minutes or until al dente.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly.
- Continue whisking until the mixture thickens. Add salt and pepper, and then stir in the cheese.
- Drain the cooked macaroni and add to the cheese sauce. Mix to combine.
- Pour the macaroni and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top of the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
