Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt, to taste
Directions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Stir to combine and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and season with salt, if desired.
- Remove from the heat and let cool completely before using.
