Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons grated ginger root
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 3 quarts boiling water
Directions
- Combine the ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, sugar, molasses, and lemon juice in a large ceramic bowl.
- Add the boiling water and stir until all of the sugar has dissolved.
- Cover the bowl with a clean cloth and let it sit for 24 hours.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher or jug.
- Pour the ginger beer into individual bottles or glasses and serve.
