Transylvanian Cabbage and Noodles

Ingredients

  • 1/2 head of cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup vegetable stock
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 pound egg noodles

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the cabbage and sauté for another 5 minutes.
  4. Add the vegetable stock, paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper and stir well.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
  7. Add the egg noodles and cook for 8 minutes, or until al dente.
  8. Drain the noodles and add them to the skillet with the cabbage mixture.
  9. Stir well and cook until the noodles are heated through, about 2 minutes.
  10. Serve hot.
