Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough is formed.
- Form dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Make an indentation in the center of each cookie with your thumb or the back of a spoon.
- Fill each indentation with a teaspoon of your favorite jam or preserves.
- Bake in preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
