1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup light brown sugar, lightly packed
2 large eggs, at room temperature
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
In a separate bowl, sift together the baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour. Gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
