Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 6 tablespoons of cold butter, diced
  • 3/4 cup of cold milk

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
  3. Add the diced butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add the milk and stir until a moist dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead a few times until it comes together. Do not overwork the dough.
  6. Roll the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut it into 8 wedges. Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the scones are lightly golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
