- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Directions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Add the graham cracker crumbs, shredded coconut, and chopped walnuts to the bowl. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
- Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9x9-inch baking dish. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla custard powder, and milk until smooth and creamy.
- Spread the custard filling evenly over the graham cracker crust in the baking dish.
- In a small microwavable bowl, combine the chopped semisweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the custard layer in the baking dish, spreading it out to cover the entire surface.
- Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate topping is set and the bars are firm.
- Once chilled, cut into squares or bars and serve.
