Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Sugar, for coating
Directions
- In a small bowl, combine the sugar, yeast and warm water. Stir to combine and set aside for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, flour and salt. Stir until a soft dough forms.
- Add the yeast mixture to the dough and mix until fully incorporated. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and set aside for 1 hour.
- Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and roll it out to 1/2-inch thick. Cut out circles with a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 350 degrees F. Carefully drop the doughnuts into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove the donuts from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Roll the donuts in sugar while still warm.
- Serve the sufganiot warm.
