Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh plums, chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped plums.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
  6. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
