In a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy, about 8 minutes. Remove bacon from skillet and set aside.
Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, basil, sugar, and bacon. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes.
Drain spaghetti and return to pot. Add tomato sauce and toss to coat. Serve hot.
