Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (optional)

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until combined.
  3. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until a thick dough forms.
  4. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
  5. Using a spaetzle maker or a colander with large holes, press the dough into the boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the spaetzle float to the top.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the spaetzle from the boiling water and place them in a colander to drain.
  7. Transfer the cooked spaetzle to a bowl and toss with melted butter and grated cheese (optional).
  8. Serve the spaetzle hot and enjoy!
