Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of chicken pieces, skin-on
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk and the vegetable oil. Whisk until combined.
  3. Working one piece at a time, dip each piece of chicken into the buttermilk mixture, followed by the flour mixture. Make sure the chicken is evenly coated in the flour.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add enough oil to cover the bottom of the skillet. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces. Fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping once, until the chicken is golden-brown and crispy.
  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let cool on a plate lined with paper towels. Enjoy!
