Ingredients
- 1 (1-inch thick) beef steak
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Cut the steak into 4 equal portions.
- In a shallow bowl, combine the 1/2 cup flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Dip the steak pieces in the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly.
- In another shallow bowl, combine the buttermilk and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Dip the steak pieces in the buttermilk mixture, coating both sides evenly.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil. Carefully place the steak pieces in the oil and cook for 5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup flour and 1/2 cup chicken broth. Pour the mixture into the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for 2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
- Serve the chicken fried steak with the gravy and your favorite sides.
