Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Filling of choice (meat, potato, cheese, etc.)

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
  2. Add the sour cream, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a ¼-inch thickness.
  5. Cut circles using a biscuit cutter or glass.
  6. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
  7. Fold the circles in half and press the edges together to seal.
  8. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  9. Cook the pierogi for 5 minutes, or until they float to the top.
  10. Remove the pierogi from the boiling water and drain.
  11. Serve with melted butter, sour cream, or your favorite topping.
