Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- Filling of choice (meat, potato, cheese, etc.)
Directions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
- Add the sour cream, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes, then cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to a ¼-inch thickness.
- Cut circles using a biscuit cutter or glass.
- Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold the circles in half and press the edges together to seal.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the pierogi for 5 minutes, or until they float to the top.
- Remove the pierogi from the boiling water and drain.
- Serve with melted butter, sour cream, or your favorite topping.
