Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 ounces spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef, salt, and pepper, and cook, stirring, until the beef is cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the onion, Italian seasoning, and garlic, and cook until the onion is softened, about 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water, and bring to a boil.
  5. Add the spaghetti and stir to combine.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the spaghetti is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the top and continue to cook until the cheese is melted, about 3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with Parmesan cheese and serve.
