Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
  4. Stir the milk mixture into the dry ingredients until everything is well blended.
  5. Stir in the raisins.
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.
  7. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool before serving.
