Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cups cubed paneer (Indian cheese)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ginger, cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric and cayenne pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add the tomatoes and cream and bring to a simmer. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Add the water, paneer and salt. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  6. Stir in the cilantro and remove from the heat.
  7. Serve with basmati rice and naan.
