Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup long-grain red rice
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
- Add the onion, garlic, and Italian seasoning and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the red bell pepper and cook for another minute.
- Stir in the rice and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the chicken broth, honey, and red pepper flakes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Cook for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the liquid has been absorbed.
