Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup long-grain red rice
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, and Italian seasoning and cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the red bell pepper and cook for another minute.
  5. Stir in the rice and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add the chicken broth, honey, and red pepper flakes and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
  8. Cook for 20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the liquid has been absorbed.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
