Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage
- 6 slices bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until evenly browned. Drain grease.
- Spread bread cubes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer with cooked sausage and cheddar cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Stir in green pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Pour over the sausage and cheese in the baking dish.
- Cover, and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
