Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, chili powder, and cumin. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until well combined.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool before removing from the pan.
