Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly until the dough comes together. Pat the dough out into a 7-inch circle and cut into 8 wedges. Place the wedges onto a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
