- 1 cup whole-wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

- 1/2 cup chopped dates
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans)

- 1 egg

Directions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dates and nuts and stir to combine.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, oil, egg, and honey. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
