Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time until well blended.
  4. Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl and blend together.
  5. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack.
