Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brandy
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom, and ginger.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the baking soda and baking powder in a small amount of hot water. Add to the butter mixture, and mix well.
- Gradually mix in the flour until the dough is just moist enough to hold together. Stir in the molasses, honey, and brandy until the batter is smooth.
- Using your hands, roll the dough into 1 inch balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheets. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until the cookies are lightly browned.
- Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
