Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine the butter and sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture alternately with the sour cream and vanilla extract, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
- Stir in the walnuts, if desired.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
