Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Food coloring, if desired
  • Flavoring, if desired

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Bring to a boil, and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the lemon juice.
  5. Add food coloring and flavoring if desired.
  6. Pour into greased molds, or onto waxed paper.
  7. Allow to cool completely before handling.
