Ingredients

  • 1 cup of white sesame seeds
  • 3 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • 2 dried red chillies, broken into small pieces
  • 3 tablespoons of oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Dry roast the sesame seeds on low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Once the sesame seeds are lightly browned, transfer them to a bowl and let them cool.
  3. In a blender, add the cooled sesame seeds, garlic, cumin powder and red chillies. Blend until the mixture is a coarse powder.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sesame seed powder and fry for a few minutes until the raw smell is gone.
  5. Add salt to taste and turn off the heat.
  6. Transfer to a bowl and let it cool before serving.
