Ingredients
- 2 vanilla beans
- 1/4 cup of vodka, white rum, or bourbon
- 1/2 cup of distilled water
- 1 mason jar with lid
Directions
- Split the vanilla beans lengthwise using a sharp knife. Scrape out the inside and add the seeds and beans to the mason jar.
- Add the vodka, white rum, or bourbon to the mason jar.
- Fill the mason jar with distilled water and screw the lid on tightly.
- Shake the jar for a few seconds to combine the ingredients.
- Store the mason jar in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks, shaking it once a day to help the mixture combine.
- After two weeks, the extract is ready to use. Strain the mixture to remove the vanilla bean pieces and store the extract in a cool, dark place.
