Ingredients
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons matcha powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Directions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the milk, matcha powder, sugar, cornstarch, and salt until smooth.
- Place the pan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil, whisking constantly.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap, making sure that the plastic wrap is touching the top of the mixture.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
- Once chilled, transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
