Ingredients

  • 1-2 pound round steak
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons diced onion
  • 2 tablespoons diced celery
  • 2 tablespoons diced carrots
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat.
  2. Sprinkle the steak with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and paprika.
  3. Add the steak to the skillet and brown on both sides for about 2 minutes per side.
  4. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  5. Add the flour to the skillet and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, onion, celery, carrots, thyme, and oregano to the skillet and stir to combine.
  7. Return the steak to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  8. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes.
