Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh white fish, such as cod or haddock, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 (14 ounce) can coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

Directions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic in a tablespoon of olive oil for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent.
  2. Add the cumin, red pepper flakes, paprika, salt and black pepper and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the fish and shrimp and cook for a few minutes until they start to turn pink.
  5. Stir in the cilantro, coconut milk, and lime juice and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  6. Serve hot with white rice or warm crusty bread.
