Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup macadamia nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dried pineapple, chopped

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes, until the mixture is bubbly.
  2. Stir in the melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and knead in the macadamia nuts and dried pineapple.
  6. Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape into loaves. Place the loaves on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Cover the loaves with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake the loaves for 25 minutes, until golden brown.
  10. Let cool before slicing and serving.
