Ingredients

  • 1 10-12 pound turkey
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons garlic salt
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place turkey in a large roasting pan.
  3. Mix together melted butter, garlic salt, thyme, rosemary, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Rub mixture all over turkey.
  4. Stuff cavity of turkey with onion and lemon.
  5. Pour chicken broth into the pan.
  6. Cover turkey loosely with aluminum foil.
  7. Roast turkey for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove foil and roast for an additional 30 minutes, or until skin is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before carving.
