Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 hamburger buns
Directions
In a large skillet, cook ground beef and onion over medium-high heat until beef is browned and onion is tender. Drain off fat.
In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic salt, and black pepper. Pour over beef mixture and stir to combine.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
To serve, spoon beef mixture onto hamburger buns.

The original name of the sandwich was the “Maid-Rite”.
The sandwich is so popular in Iowa that it can be found in most restaurants and convenience stores.
