Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 cup of beer
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  1. Start by cutting the top off of the onion and then slicing it downwards into 8 wedges, taking care not to cut all the way through.
  2. Mix together the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl.
  3. Pour the beer into a separate bowl.
  4. Dip the onion wedges in the beer and then roll them in the flour mixture until completely coated.
  5. Fill a large pot with enough oil to fry the onion wedges and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  6. Carefully drop the onion wedges into the pot and fry for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Remove the onion wedges from the pot and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
