In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the garlic and onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add the chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.
Stir in the cream, chicken, and lemon juice and continue to simmer for 5 minutes.
Stir in the parsley and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve hot.
