Start by rimming two glasses with sugar. To do this, rub a lemon wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate with sugar on it. Set the glasses aside.
Add ice cubes, lemon juice, simple syrup, and vodka to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
Strain the mixture into the two prepared glasses.
Garnish with a lemon slice and serve.
