  • 1 pound of beef stew meat
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 beets, peeled and diced
  • 2 stalks of celery, diced
  • 1 head of cabbage, shredded
  • 2 large potatoes, diced
  • 4 cups of beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of dried dill
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sour cream, for serving


  1. In a large pot, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned.
  2. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, beets, celery, and cabbage. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the potatoes, beef broth, tomato paste, paprika, caraway seeds, and dill. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning as desired. Serve with a dollop of sour cream.
